I buzzed by the page just now and took the the Daily Quiz and fared none too well. (1 out of 5) I'm used to Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy where there are clues within the question (or in Jeopardy's case, answer) that you can use if you have absolutely no idea. Not this "Who recently denied a report from the LA Times that she owned a diamond studded vibrator?" The only clue is "LA Times" and there are so many rich and famous people there that it's hardly any help.
Diamond studded vibrator? Are you trying to schred your coochie?
Reality TV is singlehandedly killing my pop culture trivia prowess. Every year I get worse and worse at EW's pop culture trivia as half the stupid questions are about Idol, Survivor, Who Wants To Be A Douchebag and all other lame attempts at TV. Between all the wife swapping, home remodeling and zany bachelor-esque shows, TV is left with about 5% worth of decent programming. Which I can't seem to find. Except for The First 48. And NHL Center Ice.
Roddi, by the way, the above mentioned group sounds like the "dream team" of trivia. We could own the world if only it was trivia based. Nice call on Lacey's sister.
tuesday night -- http://www.worldofpop.com/triviadome/
...the questions seemed a little harder tonight. there were twice as many players logged on.
we answered 11 correct in 1min58seconds. that gave us a rank of 54 out of 1711 players.
last night we answered 14 correct in 2min08seconds. and were 53rd out of 911 players.
so i feel pretty good that we trounced alot of people. had we been able to guess correctly on the lame reality tv romance show question we missed we would've really rolled as we got 23 out of 25 when replaying it later and getting past the "who wants to marry a millionare" question.
i'm totally thinking if i was on a conference call with you bush's, and kathy lohne, and lacey mccarley's sister we could win $2500.
as far as the show tonight i shockingly got 5 of 6 correct in the american idol category, and i've proudly never seen an episode. the brain is a funny thing that way. apparently i've managed to soak up enough information from all forms of media about that crapfest to correctly answer trivia questions. yet if i tried to correctly list the song titles in order from albums i've listened to hundreds of times i would have a hard time of it.
It's stuff like that where I get screwed. I've never seen the Matrix films, Lost, only saw the first LOTR, haven't seen any of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. I'm fairly well rounded, but some of the newer stuff I just haven't even seen.
BTW, pretty sweet on last night's episode when dude got the Jacob's Ladder question right.
Ok, so season two kicked off tonight. Portland is representing with a team again this year. They swept all 3 catagories in their first round so it looks like they'll fare better than last years pdx team. However, more importantly they're having a trivia competion online after each episode. It started tonight and runs monday thru friday until july 20th. you can win $2500 a night and qualify for the final that has a grand prize of 10G's or something like that.
25 questions, 4 multiple choice answers per question, 20 seconds to answer. One wrong answer and you're done. We answered 14 correct in 2minutes8seconds. How the f*** was i supposed to know that felicity took place at the fictious University of New York? We are currently ranked 53rd in the west coast division. User name "Robi"? I was registering in a hurry and thought i could come back and change it later. apparently i was wrong.
Anyhow, check it out. you can play 5 other trivia games at the site throughout the day, but the trivia dome competition is every night at 10pm. You can replay tonight's game to see how you would've done(the same questions we had), both east & west coast. I'm interested in how the Bush's would do as eroc and ang are pretty serious trivia-philes.
oh, and you probably have to have a broadband connection.
