RE: A Nightmare On Elm Street

Oh yeah, that one sucked. I wanted it to be good. The IDEA was good. The follow-through was not.

Dream Child was horrible! How could you forget?

I've watched up through Freddy's Dead now, so I guess I've only got the New Nightmare left.

Dream Warriors has been the best one so far, and I actually liked Freddy's Dead quite a bit, if only for the early-90's vibe that runs throughout.

I think I liked The Dream Child, too. Now they're all starting to run together.

The Jasons are awesome. Like I said, they are pretty consistent through 8. After that, things get kind of crummy. You have no idea how happy it makes me to discuss horror movies with you. Thank god. My real horror love has to be the Phantasm series. If you want to watch those I am always game. Biff and Cdog can't be wrong.

That gay thing does not surprise me.

Part 3 just arrived in the mail, but I haven't had time to watch it yet. Soon. I'm looking forward to ridding myself of the awkwardness of pt. 2.

Apparently that kid was gay in real life, btw. So that would explain the homoeroticism of Freddy's Revenge. Kind of. That is just a gay movie in general.

And Jason will be next after this, methinks.

Yeah, part II is the weakest of the bunch for me, especially coming right after the first one. It is the only one that really bends the rules that were set forth in the first one. Also, the lead kid always annoys me in that one (does he seem gay to you too?). The series bounces back strong as part III is actually my favorite in the whole series. Patricia Arquette makes for a great foil to Freddy Krueger. Part IV is pretty sweet, as is VI and the New Nightmare. Part V never really did it for me as it tries to do too much. The plot gets a little confusing and it just doesn't compare after the awesome one two punch of parts III and IV. I personally love the dream warriors idea so much that I wish that they just would have kept that through the sequels. Have fun with Freddy, although for my money, a trip down Friday the 13th land is a little bit more fun (up until part Jason Goes To Hell, which is just an abomination of a film) but that is a whole other thread...

Until a few days ago, I had never seen any of the Freddy films. I've since watched the first two, and I'm going to Netflix my way through the rest. Didn't really like Part II, but it seems like it's supposed to be the worst one?
