It's been long enough now where I don't regret those haircuts, I can laught at them. There was a period when I was mortified by my lbst, but you know, if it was good enough for Lou Reed, it was good enough for me.
I'm having trouble finding a good photo of the Cadeez turtleneck lbst combo.
Cadeez's LBST is a classic. Mine never quite came into fruition. I had a little LBST action going on in 5th grade, accented by much mousse up front. Wock also gave me reverse sideburns but I immediately grew them out. They had not caught on at my school and I felt like an idiot. I had a little flip in the back, but never a rat tail LBST or a bowl cut LBST. Oh, regrets.
Wow. I think that Wock's LBST might actually trump Manny's. Yes, Manny comes out strong with always popular "rat tail," and has the creativity to combine it with a pink and brown top. Nice choice. However, the combination of the reverse sideburns and the sheer amount of mousse it must have taken to hold up the front really puts Wock's LBST into overdrive. I think the only LBST that can really compete was our cousin Jeff's. There is a photo of his "rat tail" LBST combined with a turtleneck sweater somewhere. Classic.
I had quite the VKHL (that's German for LBST - Vorne Kurz Hinten Lang) in 7th grade myself. There was an eighth grader who sat behind me in social studies or something like that, and she'd played with my hair during class. It was pretty hot for me for junior high.
Wockenfuss once cultivated quite the LBST himself, if I remember correctly. He just didn't have the foresite to wear a pink and brown striped shirt. Or maybe he just didn't let him mom dress him.
Pretty much anything between like 96-97, your Lusty 36, Magic Box, Manuel Noriega years. If you have actual Lusty 36 photos that would be the coolest thing ever. Matt sent me an image of the tape cover so there is that.
Wock- we should probably discuss what we want to do for the CAC bio. I won't write one until we figure something up. I don't take detailing Cdog's musical career lightly.
EA- you are truly the man and your info is awesome.
I am still working on these and am probably about 45% done. The world is just that much closer to the inside story on The CIA. I don't know if the world is ready.
EA - email me at brad at cdbaby dot com so I can talk Beavers tickets with you. I want to bring my church group. There will be 650 of us. I expect to be accommodated.
Seriously though, email me. I still want to come to the game on Sat.
Lusty 36 Where did the name come from? What was your drummer's name? What was the name of the tape that you guys had? Was it a fiery breakup? Did you play shows with anyone cool? How long were you a band? That sort of stuff.
Manuel Noriega What is up with that name? Do you remember anything about recording that at all? Was it a just a one off type thing? And when did you become such a sweet guitar shredder? That is you right?
Jamie Hane Hamer I don't know anything about him. I think I talked to Jamie maybe a handful of times. So any info you have about him would be better than none. Did he go on to be in any other bands or anything like that?
I hope this helps. Thanks for taking the time, by the way. You can send it to either the address that Wock listed above or to pocaroba@gmail.com.
Info huh? I really don't know where to begin with some of that stuff. Feel like shooting me a list of starter questions? What's your e-mail address anyhow? is it still that white mystery one yahoo?
That's weird. The board edited stuff that wasn't a swear word out of my post. Anyway hit me with your e-mail.
I think we called ourselves All Beef Patty for like two weeks. It just happened to be during those two weeks that you put together that comp. It was really always Youth In Asia.
Hey boys, as Wockenfuss knows, I am working on writing up artist bios of every band/person that has appeared on Sly Records releases. It will be sweet seeing how about three people have actually heard the old releases but I am doing it none the less. I figure since this is technically a music label site we might as well have some info about the musicians, eh? That being said, I am having trouble with a few of the ones that involve you boys.
Wock:
Can you basically create a bio or send me some good stuff on All Beef Patty? I could come up with one but I might as well have you do it seeing as how it was your band and all. For instance, just how many band names did you guys have, for chrissakes?
EA:
Some of this I should probably get from Matt but I haven't been able to get ahold of him lately and he seems to shun convenient things like myspace or message boards. I need some info on Lusty 36, Manuel Noriega & The Harmonies, and perhaps even Jamie Hane Hamer if you have it. I'll combine your recollections with Matt's and make up some sweet bio-riffic stuff. Also if you have any useful photos from that era maybe you could email them to me or Wock since he will be putting all this stuff up.
If you guys have the time to do this and email your much appreciated hard work to me that would be the coolest thing in town.
