RE: Sticks Downey Record

I seem to be coming along nicely. I can walk with a somewhat normal gait, albeit at a slower than usual pace and a little bit gingerly. I'm probably sidelined for a couple of weeks at least though.

I'll ask for your forgiveness and understanding at my no show considering the extenuating circumstance of having rolled my ankle (and heard a popping noise) earlier in the day while playing in my city league soccer game. I'd been planning to go & had put the show in my calendar even, but I just couldn't get my hobble on. Sorry dude.

The New Bomb Turks know who I am. Now my life is complete. This is why I love the internet. Dold, your rock and roll connections astound me. Also your boss must be the coolest person on Earth. I actually remember the moment I received that album in the mail at the tender age of 16. It made me happy.

Oh Melinda I'm so tender!

Wock, that would explain it indeed. Shemy bossemailed him immediately after hearing the New Bomb Turks reference. He was apparently quite flattered.
Not to make your head explode Wock, but I totally enjoyed the rest of the record. Biff, I only wish there was more of you on the album buddy.

This would explain why Sticks just got a friend request from the New Bomb Turks on MySpace.

I have a huge smile on my face like a proud papa. Dold, you have made me happy. Tell your boss to tell the New Bomb Turks that "Destroy-Oh-Boy" is one of the greatest albums ever. And that I have that ish on vinyl, '94 style.

My favorite stuff is Wock's lines about the Million Dollar Man on "Paper Champions."

Nice!

I am, of course, not shocked that Biff's hockey references impressed you. It's good to know they weren't wasted on the world.

Feel free to boost our egos with more compliments.

So I just got the record and I've just been letting it roll while I'm here at work. Though I'm only two track four, I have some observations...

1. My boss who I happen to share a desk with cracks off a laugh every few minutes about the random references to pop-culture in the songs. I believe her favorites so far have to do with Jennifer Gray's nose, and a name drop of the New Bomb Turks, who she has been friends with for years.

2. Again I'm only at track four, but I've already heard lyrical references to Fernando Pisani, Jordan Tootoo, and Jarkko Ruutu. For a guy like myself, that's pretty f__king awesome.

I can't wait to see what other treats await me.

Dold out

Oh, by the way Wock, the buttons are radical!
