RE: You Can Bank On It

I am also jealous. The wife and I have been watching a lot of Clerks II lately. I can't believe I like it so much. It blows "Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back" out of the water. I forgot that the "Porno" movie even existed. Can you legally make a comedy without Seth Rogan? He's like Jack Black circa 5 years ago. When is he going to do the kids movies and start sucking?

The film was actually pretty sweet. I mean if you're into that sort of thing. It's not really reinventing the wheel or anything. If you enjoy the films of Mr. Smith and or Apatow then chances are you really enjoy this one as well. Like most of their films, it's got some super-sweet dialog, which is pretty consistent throughout, as well as a few choice moments that stick with you days after. There are also some sweet sort of bit parts that really made the movie for me.
I didn't get to chat with him for very long, only a few minutes, it was mostly geeky Star Wars stuff, which he seemed totally into. Then I during the Q&A after the film, I asked him if he got the approval George Lucas for a Star Wars sequence in the new film. He said he did not, and then told a sweet story about Affleck calling him on Thanksgiving (years ago when he was dating Gwyneth Paltrow) from Steven Spielberg's house right after Lucas had shown up. Basically Spielberg and Lucas argued about whose web-site was "cooler" for like a half hour, then they proceeded to look up each others web-sites together and chat about what they liked about each others. If was apparently a huge geek-fest. Which in some odd way makes me feel better about my geekness.

Nice, Doctor!

Consider me jealous for sure.

How was the movie? I'd like to hear more about your conversation with Mr. Smith, too...

I had a chance to see an advanced screening of Zach & Miri Make a Porno last week in NYC, where I also happen to get to meet Kevin Smith (but more on that later. I didn't really know much about the flick, but I was indeed suprised to see her in it. It does seem like she's in every flippin' movie that comes out these days. I mean really, W, really. I'm just saying. By the way that looks terrible, I don't care how "charming" Josh Brolin is.
As for meeting Kevin Smith. Yeah, I met him, he's pretty much a stallion. Got to ask him a few Star Wars questions about the new film it was pretty sweet. So you should probably be jealous or something.
