I have no problem admitting that I was a pretty ridiculous out of control child fan. I mean how could you not love Drexler, Kersey, and Uncle Cliffy. I still have my bust a bucket tape, and the entire first year of Rip City Magazine...I'm never getting rid of that ****! I wasn't real stoked when the team was made up of nothing but drug laden rapists either, but obviously those days are past and the new roster is full of classy dudes who art actually interested in winning a championship, rather than getting high. I just don't understand why certain Oregonians still talk so much crap. I mean I understand that you've been used to being disappointed in the past, but it truly looks like a bright future for the team. So back the efff off all you nay sayers. And Biff, word on the Shaq thing, that guys a AAA douche!
I was not a fan of the JailBlazers but I always loved Sheed. I was super crushed when he left Portland. I don't think I have watched a full NBA game since. My heart is still crushed from that playoff loss to LA back in 2000 or 2001. I hate Shaq.
Yes my hatred for this man goes back to sheed. He was always talking out of his ass about him and the blazers. But as of last year he was put on the blazers payroll which in my opinion may effect his effectivness as journalist. I`m pretty sure paul allen put him in his pocket to buy him up. I`m not sure how you are hired by the same team that you are so in depth at cutting up. f u c k h i m. Good to know you guys talk about something other than hockey and soccer. I`m fan and hope we make playoffs. This years dunk compo was best ever.
I think the hate proliferated out of the JailBlazers era and some people (Canzano) got famous (or at least higher paychecks or some sort of recognition) constantly bringing up what the Blazers were doing in their private lives. It was like shock jock-ery, Howard Stern-style. But now that the Blazers aren't the JailBlazers anymore, dudes like this are going to go the way of the dodo (dode-o perhaps?). That and the feeling I get that the public taste is changing away from this shock-jock business.
Canzano has a regular column in the Oregonian and a radio show on KXL and his M.O. is to tug at some feeling of yours, whether it's anger or fear or indignation, to get you all worked up about some new thing. He's not a reporter, he's all opinion and it's based on the fact that he's a grade "A" douchebag.
I've never heard of the guy, but you bring a point that I'd like to expand on; why all the hometown hate toward the Blazers? Have these people forgotten how to "Bust A Bucket"? Don't get me wrong, we've had plenty of clowns on our team. However, the current line up is seems to be a bunch of solid dudes (non of which have ever been arrested), so why does everybody hate them?
For those of us still in the Portland area, do any of you listen to John Canzano on the radio or read his stuff in the paper?
He gets mentioned every so often on the Timber Army message board and the dude is always slamming on soccer and the Timbers et al. But if that wasn't bad enough, he always seems to want to dig up dirt on the Blazers, that seems to be his only coverage of the Blazers.
Do you, Dold or Wock, bother to read or listen to this guy? Does he cover anything of import to either of you?
