RE: I bought a Wii.

Yeah, I beat Joe Perry in a shredtastic battle on the hard setting in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

What of it?

Super Mario Galaxy 2 was officially announced yesterday.

The trailer got me lobbin'.

2010 seems so far away...

Super Paper Mario is coming slowly for me. Lots of cut scenes and it sucks my patience away quickly.

And I started reading a biography of Marc Bolan, so there's no turning back now.

They could call the rap version "Mari-yo"

It would be rad if the "paper" in Super Paper Mario was the of the rap slang variety. I would love to play a game where the concept is Mario on the corner "on his grind." They should look into it.

Poor Luigi. He always seems so nervous. I hope he at least doesn't yell "weee" everytime he jumps ala the revamped Mario 2.

Dude, I wouldn't mind having a Tanooki suit for everyday wear.

I beat the game and collected all the stars, and you do indeed start a new adventure as Luigi. He's all over the place, can't stop running to save his life.

I'm putting that quest on hold while I tackle Super Paper Mario.

That's kind of a cool idea. The game itself isn't harder but the character controls are different. I like it. So is there Super Toad Galaxy or does it end with Luigi?

Are you saying that it is better than Super Mario World? I am shocked. Shocked I say. I'll have to play this when I am crashing on your couch in a few months. Our ladies will love it.

I think you should be Tanooki suit Mario for Halloween next year. Tell Roy to start sewing.

There's 120 stars total, 104 before you beat Bowser, he's the 105th, and then there's 15 more stars that are only unlocked after you beat him. Speaking of that, I beat him last night. Played a few more levels, but I still have 13 stars left to get.

Apparently, after you recover all 120 stars, it opens up "Super Luigi Galaxy," and you can play the entire game over as Luigi, who has his standard moves of jumping higher but also being a bit awkward in stopping, etc.

This is my favorite Mario game.

How many stars do you have to unlock altogether? I am sure you missed a few things. When you beat it does it get harder?

If he does wear skates, you can't see 'em. He will do a triple axel and knock your ass out though.

96 stars. I'm nearing the end point. I'm going to be sad. Possibly sad enough to play it all over again.

Does he actually wear ice skates?

43 stars in my little plumber pockets.

New thing I found last night: In the ice levels, Mario skates. It's pretty smooth.

I just wait until Joy falls asleep, and then it's Mario time.

The game is incredibly fun. I really can't say enough about it.

Wow. I laughed heartily at that from beginning to end. You are truly a master of comedic verse.

And tell Robison to get off your back.

I think that you should make yourself a t-shirt of you playing Mario Galaxy and wear it to get yourself in the "zone." That way Robi would now when attempting to bother you that it would be pointless. It's basically like me in a hockey jersey on Saturday. Angie understands that his "her time."

I've offered to buy her a sewing machine because she wants to make some couch covers. And it'll keep her out of my immediate vincity when I'm performing Mario's patented spin kick, which involves some Wiimote flailage.

Looks like she may have found a sewing machine for free, which is good. These Wii games aren't cheap.

So, she's got her projects and I've got mine.

Namely collecting star bits and flying at top speeds across distant galaxies to conquer various planetoids.

Robison must be thrilled. Have you attempted to make out with the television yet?

Picked up the game and the strategy guide tonight, and commenced with the playing.

Man, this game is fun.

The Wii controls make a lot more sense now.

I told you all it was going to happen, and about two weeks ago I bit the bullet. It was a bit hard to track one down, but I ended up finding one right near my place, at the Game Crazy on 152nd and Division. It only comes with one wiimote and one nunchuck, so I picked up an extra wiimote, which came with WiiPlay, a game (kind of). The system comes with Wii Sports.

I bought the Wii in anticipation of these big Fall releases:

Oct 31: The Simpsons Game.

Nov. 6: Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

Nov. 12: Super Mario Galaxy.

The sports games get old pretty quick, and WiiPlay isn't much more than a training tool to get you used to using the new style of controller. In that respect, it's good, because the wiimote/nunchuck setup is really weird at first. Sometimes you point it at the screen and target stuff with it, sometimes you turn it sideways and use it like an old school controller, and when you have the nunchuck plugged into it, it basically works as the right side of your controller, with an A button, a trigger, and an analog pad at the top.

So, I got The Simpsons Game last night. This is the first real game I've played with the Wii and I'm still getting used to it. To perform special attacks with the characters you have to shake both of the controllers or sometimes just wave the wiimote in a circular motion. The gf gave me some well deserved ribbing for this, as I was laying on the couch and flailing around at the same time.

Anyway, the game itself is unreal, it looks JUST like the cartoon. It's bizarre. And I was laughing out loud at a lot of the dialog.

I'll write a full review of the game soon.

The Wii is fun. I will post pictures.
