RE: The Wonder Years

We also would have accepted "What a scrote."

It does end with a parade but they don't show Kevin when he's grown up or anything. It's still 1973 and he's there with his family, talking about how his dad dies and he and Winnie stay friends after she goes to art school in Paris or something gay like that. And it's the summer after his junior year. They really should have held out and shown him graduating high school.

What a butthead.

yes, i just confirmed with the missus...she recalls it ending with the parade...kevin's there with his kids and winnie's there with hers. they don't end up together. kevin's dad dies, and his mom goes back to work...etc....."f'ing bulls**t ending" to quote jamie.

i totally remember the tearful rain thing... but don't they end it with a parade and daniel stern narrating what happens to everyone while kevin stares longingly at winnie from across the street?

p.s. kevin and winnie don't end up together.

I think I remember that Kevin and Winnie have some tearful, rain-drenched encounter at the end but I think they don't end up getting together. And there is a post-script where it says that Kevin's dad dies like two years later. Which I always found a really cool, depressing way to end the show. Sorry if I ruined anything for anyone. That's what you get for being friends with me.

Kind of disappointing that the show doesn't go through Kevin's senior year. The finale was on last week and I had forgotten how it ends. Kind of bittersweet.

I like that.

I haven't saved any of the episodes. I realized I should have about halfway through season two but it was too late. When they get back to the beginning (Which shouldn't be too long, Kevin's in 11th grade at this point) I'll see what I can do.

I think Ion shows that Dick Van Dyke murder mystery show too. And a lot of infomercials.

Any chance of transferring those bad boys from DVR to DVD and bypassing the highway robbery mark-up?

I can't figure it out either. It's like, all of a sudden there's this new channel from thin air that will only play shows that have cult followings, or no followings at all.

I'll tell you what though, I'd be all over a show called "Oral Court."

I somehow caught those Wonder Years repeats right from the beginning and, through the magic of my DVR, have managed to catch all of them. It's great, two episodes a night, five days a week. It had been years since I had seen some of the episodes, and some I didn't remember at all.

Wayne just moved out last night. Bittersweet.

I cannot figure out what Ion is. It seems like it's only on at night and all they show is Alice, Amen, Mama's Family, Moral Court, and The Wonder Years. Bizarre.

I have a feeling Wonder Years will take forever to come out on DVD because of all the music they use in the show, so it's great to be able to see all of them on the tube again.

I discovered at some point early last week that there is a new(?) channel on basic cable in Portland called the Ion channel. It's 5 on basic cable, but they aparently show 2 episodes of the Wonder Years at 10 and 10:30 every weeknight. I watched a couple this past week and it was awesome. Such a good show, and I still laugh at it at 29 years old.

I once saw on the internet an "I love Winnie Cooper" T-shirt and I kick myself for not having ordered one since I cannot seem to find them anymore.
