I guess the weird thing for me is that the NHL is comprised of a very good number of European players. But not one is from England. Not one. Why not bring the NHL to Sweden, Finland, Czech, Russia, Ukraine, heck, even France (there is one non French-Canadian French player now)? I guess they are trying to broaden their appeal but you don't see Cricket playing some actual league games in like Cleveland this year. I just hate when my sport seems, I don't know, desperate. You know?

Not much crazier than the NFL staging regular season games in London. I can't remember if they're doing just exhibitions this year with regular season games next year or what, but I seem to remember reading that the games at The New Wembley (TM) sold out in mere minutes. Apparently, the football crazed English are down to check out some Pointyball (TM)

Isn't that crazy? I'm not really sure what the point is other than to try to sell an already much maligned sport to a completely soccer-centric public. Its a nifty idea and all, but if you bought season tickets for either team, wouldn't you be a little miffed?

If there is not some sort of riot at this game than hooligans everywhere should hang their heads in shame.

Ducks to open season v Kings in London England


"The Anaheim Ducks will take the Stanley Cup back to its birthplace when they open the NHL's 90th season and begin defense of their first championship in London against the rival Los Angeles Kings.

The two-game series highlights the 2007-08 schedule, released by the league Wednesday.

Anaheim, which became the NHL's first West Coast champion by beating Ottawa in the finals in June, will show off the Cup in England on Sept. 29-30. The oldest trophy in North American sports was purchased at the Regent Street shop of silversmith G. R. Collis & Co. 115 years ago."

I am so bitter right now. I hate the Ducks. I hate the Duck-centric NBC broadcasters. I hate Corey Perry. I hate Ryan Getzlaf. I hate brother Rob. I hate goddamn Neiderprongs. What a bunch of douchebags.
